nearby

today you reminded me of something so fundamental;
how could I have forgotten in the first place?
you are close by; involved - in everything I do.
not remote and dignified but here with me in my daily grind.

so many of the psalms and hymns I know tell me this - and yet . . . .

nothing is irrelevant to you. nothing. and I say again: nothing.

and I need to go on saying this - until I really grasp its meaning.

I considered the Roman pagan gods of old. . . . . they were nearby.
It is easy to think of you on a distant mighty throne and oftentimes you are spoken of thus but it is so far from the truth that it becomes seriously misleading to think this way.

you are nearby.
close.
next to me.
that line of the hymn: "You made their tiny wings" sprang to mind.
